Alight Plus Size Fashions Giveaway

Alight.com is quickly becoming THE place for plus size fashions.  I stumbled upon alight a few years ago when I needed a dress for my daughter’s graduation, and I didn’t want a frumpy, matronly plus-size frock.  Turns out, I love the dress I bought and I wear it whenever I can!  Their selection is amazing – from dresses to club clothes to jackets to cardigans – you will find it all at alight.com.
According to their site, “alight's selection of plus size clothing and apparel for women and teens is one of the largest on the internet. We carry over 1000 unique items from over 75 brands. Our buyers shop the globe for the most interesting and fashion right clothing.”
From size 12 – 34, there’s something for everyone at alight.  Check out their dressy dress selection.

As their site says, “Find the perfect plus size prom dress for prom 2011 here at alight. We have all the latest in formal prom gowns from the hottest designers. Whether you are looking for satin prom dresses, short prom dresses, long prom dresses, or strapless prom dresses, we have what you are looking for. We carry dresses in every color including black prom dresses, red prom dresses, green prom dresses, purple prom dresses, white prom dresses, orange prom dresses, yellow prom dresses, and gold prom dresses. For people on a budget we carry cheap prom dresses. Many of our prom dresses were featured in prom fashion magazines.”

They sent us a cute size 12 dress in a bright floral print with a wide satiny orange belt, which was perfect for accenting Liz’s little waist.  As she always does, she made the look her own by adding funky, slouchy little boots.

Holiday Planner?

Lizzie's Mom wants to know...

I have a question for all my cyber-buddies: do you use a formal planner (calendar, program, etc.) to get ready for the holidays?

I just realized that it's December 1 (duh) and I should be planning all of my baking and decorating and shopping, just so I don't end up on Christmas Day strung out and cranky.

I went over to FlyLady.net because back when I used to do her routines, I felt so much more organized and in control. But, OMGosh! - FlyLady expects you to have all your preparations DONE by Dec. 1! Yikes!!!!

Am I overthinking this? Is it as simple as a list and a calendar? (I just love to have everything mapped out for me, though!) I trust your opinions.  What do YOU do?

Review: Good Girls Don't Get Fat

If you are a mom, daughter, sister... basically any type of female... (even dads could learn a little something) you need to read this book by Dr. Robyn Silverman!  It talks about the struggles girls have with weight and has so many inspiring (and some gross) stories.  I can almost guarantee that, by the end, you will love your body and have so much more respect for yourself and others.  Plus, the book is so ridiculously current and talks about all the things girls are really going through, from friends and boys to media and facebook, it covers all the bases.  I really recommend you read this book ASAP, but in the meantime, check out our review on Mint Green With Envy HERE.
And be sure to check out this short video from Dr. Robyn!

Inspired by Finn Baltic Amber Necklace Review & Giveaway

First a little history lesson:  Baltic Amber is fossilized tree resin which has been revered since about 9500 BC for its beauty and healing properties.  Amber was a traditional remedy for teething in Europe as recently as the 1900's, where it was believed to have had analgesic and calming properties.   More recently, a new generation of moms has discovered amber.  Amber teething necklaces are enjoying a comeback, and just about anywhere you go, you're bound to see someone (big or small) wearing amber.
Teething necklace.
Baltic Amber for back pain.

Inspired by Finn asked me to review one of their necklaces.  It's really a thing of beauty, and I put it on as soon as I got it.  I was kind of expecting some magical thunderclap that would suddenly heal all of my various ailments, but, of course that is just silly.  After a couple of days, though, when I went to put
it back on after a shower (you shouldn't bathe in your amber), it was missing. After searching for a while, I gave up and went to bed.  I woke up the next morning with a very unpleasant surprise: a migraine!
Now I do suffer from migraines, but I never wake up with them.  And this was a bad one.  I took ibuprofen, had coffee (that's my usual remedy) and went about my morning, getting ready for work.  As I was feeding the cats,
I laughed out loud.  The necklace was curled up next to the cats' dish!  One of my kitties tried to steal it!(Or was it sabotage?)  I put it back on and before long, my headache was gone.  I know - I know...it was probably
the meds and caffeine, but still.  What's even more awesome is I haven't had a migraine since.  And I'm not entirely sure, but I think it has helped with some chronic shoulder pain I've been having.

Stop Hatin' on Elf!

It's round two of e.l.f. reviews on fuzziestbunnyslippers!
I recently received an order and was particularly pleased with everything I got.
Their Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen is amazing!  I also have the Avon one that's similar, and have a hard time deciding which to go with each day, since they're both so good.  (Midnight does not look as blue as it does in the picture, but you can definitely tell it's blue, not black!)  It's got a felt tip and is soooo easy to use, my dog could probably do it! But if cat eyes (eyes like a kitteh!) are more your style, this is perfect for that!
I'm not at all an expert with brushes (and usually just use whatever is closest to me), but the Essential Blending Eye Brush seems to be working fabulously!
I also ordered the Brightening Eye Color quad in Matte Mauve. (Which may have been a mistake.  I don't really use matte colors, so I don't know why I even wanted this... haha, silly me, but really, it's good eye shadow.  I just haven't found an awesome use for it yet.) BUT the color is very pigmented! This quad comes in a bunch of other colors that I'm sure are fantastic!

Most importantly, I feel like I have to talk about (and defend a little) e.l.f.'s Eyelid Primer!  I've heard a variety of mixed reviews.  Some say it's awful and makes eyelids oily, others (like one of my mom's magazines) say it's amazing and "the best dollar you'll ever spend!"  I'm going to have to side with the latter on this one.  I've been using it for a little while now and absolutely love it.  I don't find it to be oily in the slightest bit.  The color lasts all day and, yup, no creasingDefinitely worth more than a dollar!

Wanna make a lil money?

Four dollars may not sound like a lot, but if you've got hundreds of people giving you $4, it's gonna add up! This is why you NEED to know about Fiverr if you have any talent... in any area... at all.
Fiverr is an online network where people put things like, "I will promote your product on my blog for $5" or "I will perform a ridiculous and passtionate acapella version of any song under five minutes for $5".  You pay $5, the person gets $4, and Fiverr gets $1.
If anything, just go check the site out cause some of them are hilarious!

Back to School!?

Don't worry, this blog post is not me saying that going back to school is cute (except for all the first day outfits, of course!). Yesterday, in a sort of 'get to know each other' activity, a question asked, "What are two things you are good at?" Since I find it odd to write things like that, 'cause no one wants to seem brag-gy, right?.... I asked my friend what she thought I should write and her response: "OH! Painting your nails!" So here we are. (Sorry for the kinda unnecessarily long intro!)

The inspiration is from xSparkage... I shouldn't say inspiration because it's basically the same exact thing buuuuut.... oh well! She used Essie's Turquoise and Caicos and I'm guessing a white nail pen. I, on the other hand, used Sally Hanson's Insta-Dry Fast Nail Color in Mint Sprint and a light blue Avon color in Vintage Blue (similar to the Sephora by OPI color Havana Nights). My version is a touch cheaper.

Anyway, I only wanted to share because of how adorable this is and I have a little trick! Sometimes, using toothpicks to make precise lines and designs works out fabulously, but sometimes, you just end up in a frustrated mess. Well I think I have found a solution to this problem! Instead of going out and buying a new fine-ish tipped nail pen in every color you need, just get one! I recommend getting a basic color, probably white, because black may be a little dark for this. For whatever reason, I have a gold nail pen, so that's what I used.

This is super easy:
  • just take your nail pen
  • wipe off the excess around the brush with a tissue/paper towel
  • pick whatever nail polish color you want
  • put a little on a paper plate, some sort of palette, maybe? or i just used an upside down bathroom dixie cup
  • dip the pen into the color
  • start goin' to town!
It's so simple, easy, and adorable!  If you're not good doing precise things with your not prominent hand, just ask someone to help you out! If it would be easier for me to show you in a short little video tutorial, comment and let me know!
Thanks for reading and hope everybody is having a great week back at school!

Check out xSparkage on YouTube! She's amazing! Or read her blog!

For Goodness Grape!

While I was away on vacation this past week, there was one thing I felt I was missing...   When lying, sitting, reading, and playing bocce on the windy beach, I felt so bad for my poor lips.  Once I got home, I found exactly what I was looking for wrapped up in the most adorable piece of candy packaging: For Goodness Grape Lip Products!  All of the Lip Candies are made with the best ingredients to ensure your pretty little lips are well taken care of.

Of course I admire and applaud all of the stores on Etsy, For Goodness Grape is definitely special and stood out to me from the very first glance. This cute store full of wonderful lip products is run by Lisa, a certified medical assistant.  If that doesn't tell you that For Goodness Grape is a serious store focused around helping you look and feel great... or should I say grape? ;), I don't know what will!  Between that interesting fact and the super professional and just as cute packaging, you can be sure For Goodness Grape is one of the most legitimate stores on Etsy.

The Strawberry Bubble Gum Lip Candy is the perfect base for any gloss or lipstick, ensuring that your lips are soft and smooth before applying anything else.  Additionally, this cute little lip balm smells (and tastes) amazing!  Another favorite of mine?  For Goodness Grape's Lava Lip Icing is a perfect shiny gloss to go over anything, but it can also stand on it's own!  The best part about it? It's 100% NOT sticky!  And while I have no clue what a paraben is, these don't have 'em (that's a good thing!)!

So if you are in need of some tasty, quality lip products, I highly suggest checking out For Goodness Grape on Etsy for the best budget-friendly lip candies on the web!

New Fashion Must-Have: The Mini Moustache Ring!

If I were to ask you the following question: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you want a moustache ring right now?"  You'd probably say a low number or maybe just, "What's a moustache ring?"  Oh, it is only THEE most amazing piece of jewelry you will ever own!  From the moment I first laid eyes on this beaut, I know it was meant to be.  And where can one get such a fantastic little ring? from Punk. Love. Now. !!!

Well now you're probably wondering... what's Punk. Love. Now.?  Punk. Love. Now. is a super cute punk-y store on Etsy run by Mike Briggs and Carrie Love.  It's "A rocking store that custom makes clothes, jewelry, purses, and other fun goodies for you!!"  If you're like me, all you need to see is the moustache ring and you're sold!  But, if there are some skeptics still out there... here are some more adorable things.  Perhaps a strawberry ice cream cone could sway you?  Or, maybe sway on your neck, instead!

Remember Super Mario Brothers? Show you do by wearing a Chain Chomp Hair Clip!

If you're more into the punk-y side of Punk. Love. Now.... these will be right up your alley!
Handmade Skull Button Charm Bracelet
I've got this super fun Punk Love Now Necklace this cute and rocker-y little Punk. Love. Now Signature Hair Clip!

Everything is custom made, like this super cute pair of dice earrings!

I am also (oddly?) obsessed with this little grape bottle cap magnet! How cute is that magnet?
(sorry about the quality!)

Punk. Love. Now. describes the moustache ring as "Uber cute and unique!!"  Trust me, that does not even do it justice.  At a Sweet 16 Dance Party, the mustache ring was a big hit.  At first, it acted as a distraction to keep us entertained until the party really got started.
While dancing, I accidentily hit someone with the ring and said "SORRY! That was my moustache ring!"  "Your what?" I showed them.... astounded!  "Oh My Gosh! That is so cool!"  They then pretended it was a real moustache on their face, which was hilarious.  So, insta-party on your finger? I think: Yes!

OMG- so cute.... a cartoon version of Mike and Carrie's dog is the mascot!  And if you've got youngsters, check out their other site, Mr. Blue Puppy Studios (aw!).  While I'm not totally familiar with Yo Gabba Gabba, I think this is the cutest bag... ever?!

So, to bring this post full circle, let me ask you, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you want a moustache ring right now?
It's probably a 10+, huh?  GO CHECK OUT PUNK. LOVE. NOW.

Amon Korea Headbands!! :)

Imagine this:  you walk into school on a Monday wearing a brand new, adorable headband you got over the weekend.  It looks great and you didn't even have to spend that much for it.  But then... the unthinkable happens!  On your way to first period you see one.. no, make that TWO! girls wearing the same headband.  You ask yourself, "how could this have happened?" and I know the answer to that.  Although we all love that certain inexpensive store we'll call... Evermore 12, it's obvious we all shop there and wear the exact same things.

So, to solve your hair wear problems, I recommend wearing a lovely headband from Amon Korea!  These headbands are great... they're comfy, super cute, and hand made!  Some are simple, sporting just a classy braid or maybe two and some are amazing, clearly hand-crafted, stunning works of art you can wear on your noggin!  I'm not joking, they're really pretty.  And best of all, they're all super affordable!  If you're into the hippie-inspired headband look like many celebs, Amon Korea headbands are perfect!  Or, like me, you can just wear them the regular old way and be equally cute!  Amon Korea also offers hats, visors, etc! Plus, (this is awesome) they offer special deals if you buy more than one (which, duh, you would anyway!).  So, if you want a fantastic headband at an even better price, check out Amon Korea on Ebay!

Take this pretty sequined one, for example.
It's so delicate and makes anyone look totally angelic.

Same with the adorable daisy headband.

My favorite?

Other fantastic Amon Korea Headbands:
this headband is gorgeous! Hollywood style Flower Headband

GO TO: AMON KOREA! do it quickly! :)

Spiral Solutions Hair Care Review

 http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpiralSolutions

There's no doubt about it: summer time is torture for all hair types.  Between the sun and chlorine, it's tough to keep your tresses in check.  And if you've got curly hair like me, you know just how hard it is to find a product that works.  Lucky for us, I've found seven that do.
Spiral Solutions is an amazing company that uses plenty of natural ingredients, oils, and butters to "keep curls hydrated, nourished, detangled, shiny, bouncy, and frizz-free."  Let me tell you, Spiral Solutions really does do all of that!

Their shampoo, which comes out later this summer, is a must for curly hair!  (This is coming from the girl who hasn't switched shampoos for four years!)  The Moisturizing Cream Shampoo is sulfate-free (muy importanté) and I would compare directly to DevaCurls NoPoo Shampoo.  The other night, I went swimming, to a bonfire, and then went swimming again, so my hair was knotty, smelled like smoke and chlorine, and needed to be washed.  The Spiral Solutions Shampoo cut through the knots (figuratively, of course) and stench and left my hair soft and super clean.
Afterwards, I used Caitlin's Condition ($14.95 for 8 oz), which is so
rich and creamy.  To style, since my hair is really damaged, I used the Deeply Decadent Moisturizing Treatment ($16.95 for 8 oz) and  then the Curl Enhancing Jelly just in the front where I'm really prone to frizz.  For me, I only use the tiniest bit so it would be totally worth it to pay $23.95 for a 16 oz bottle!  In fact, all of products require only a little bit to work 100%, so the prices are great across the board!

(me and my not-curly-headed sister, Emma)

This morning, I got a chance to try out some more products.  I used the Strength and Shine Leave-In Protein Spray ($13.95 for 8 oz) followed by the Firm Hold Styling Gel ($12.95 for 8 oz).  I have to be honest, I was very nervous about the word 'gel', which I associate with the dreaded crunchy curls.  But to my very happy surprise... it wasn't crunchy at all!  It dried and looked wonderful!
Even after swimming, my curls were still defined and pretty!  Later, I used the Repairing Protein Treatment ($16.95 for 8 oz) which is a necessity for all of the damaging effects that the summer has.

Overall, the entire Spiral Solutions line is fantastic and definitely gets the FuzziestBunnySlippers Seal! I recommend all of the products mentioned above and I'm sure that all of the other Spiral Solution products are great, too.
Let me know if you've tried any and how they've worked for you!

Owl Say!

Do you like adorable things?  Being a trend setter and ahead of the curve? Like to accessorize and stay on budget?  Of course you do!  Then you need to check out Etsy, if you haven't yet.  Etsy is the huge online community/store where crafty people gather to sell their stuff!  You can find just about anything on Etsy: jewelry, clothes, bags, paintings, decorations, vintage goods, cookies, even seeds and plants!  I wasn't kidding when I said just about anything!  My favorite part?  You can search by color! While you're browsing and perusing the site, you may come across Owl Say

You may be asking yourself... What's Owl Say? Run by stay-at-home mom, Kelley Terrill, Owl Say Designs is an amazing site on Etsy that sells luggage tags, passport covers, clutches, magnets, and so much more.  With over 400 items for sale and an astounding 2546 and counting sales already made, you can be sure this is a popular, well-liked, and awesome site!  Even though everything is super affordable, there's even a clearance section! (That was the clincher for me!)  Everything about Owl Say Designs is just so cute, from the designs to the packaging.  When I opened my Owl Say merch (about 20 seconds after my mailman dropped it off) I was happy from the first look.  Like I said, even the packaging was simple and cute, sporting a little owl.  (And that's saying a lot, cause I hate all bird-type animals!)

I was even more impressed once I opened it, though!  The matching passport cover and luggage tags are in the print 'Flower Medallion'.  The colorful print makes it totally versatile, so no need to worry about anything clashing.  I think everyone knows how important luggage tags are, especially for long distance travel.  I'm sure there's some skepticism about why you would need a passport cover.  I'll tell ya!  An adorable passport cover (like this one from Owl Say) will make sure that you can tell your passport from everybody elses.  If you're going on a family trip, I'd say it's a must.  Plus, in a field of black and midnight blue, us fashionistas have to add a little flare wherever we can.  If you ask me, $5 for a passport cover and $8 for TWO luggage tags is completely reasonable.  Wouldn't you rather spend a little (and I mean a little) now, rather than lose your luggage/passport later.  I think you would!   So if you like what you see, go check out the rest of Owl Say Designs products, available on Etsy!  It's got the FuzziestBunnySlippers Seal of Approval (not as great as the good housekeeping one, but still)!

Soon to come: Spiral Solutions and (not Etsy-related) Amon Korea!
