OPI

After (kind-of) stopping the awful habit of biting my nails, the only way to keep my nails growing is by painting them! The very first nail polish I used on my new, more lengthy nails was OPI. In '"Sheer" Your Toys', to be exact. Now, about six months later, I'm hooked. Although kind of pricey, their still worth it, if you ask me. Usually a bottle will put you back about $8. However, sometimes you find things when you're not looking for them. Last night, my mom and I were walking around Bed Bath & Beyond when we came across the clearance section. (our favorite :P) What else did we find but... OPI! Woohoo! And only 3.99! So now I'm wearing 'Lincoln Park at Midnight and, although I don't usually go for dark colors, I do love this dark purple. My summer favorite, though, 'Let them Eat Rice Cake' because it looks great with my tan! Check eBay too; you can always find good OPI bargains there.

Despite the cost, between my mom and I, we've acquired about ten different bottles:

-"Sheer" Your Toys

-Lincoln Park at Midnight

-Breathe Life

-It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's OPI

-Pillow Talk

-My Kind of Brown

-Nantucket Mist

-You're Such a Kabuki Queen

-25 Colorful Years

-Let Them Eat Rice Cake

What's your favorite OPI color? Comment!

GLEEk tour

For my first fuzziest post flying solo (just lizzie, no mom) I have to talk about the best up-coming fall show, GLEE and their mall tour!  When the pilot aired on FOX on 5/19/09, there was no doubt in my mind that this show wasn't going to be amazing.  Now, as the show gets closer and closer to it's season premiere on 9/9/09 (good luck, right?) gleeks nation-wide are getting so excited!  To make it even better, the cast has been touring malls hitting Hot-Topics since Monday with a meet & greet and Q&A session.  After waiting in line for three hours, the moment had come when we could finally meet the cast.  And it was totally worth the wait!  The eight cast members signing there were Finn, Rachel, Artie, Mercedes, Kurt, Tina, Quinn, and Puck (sadly no Schuester) and everyone was soooooo nice.  Being that I attended the King of Prussia stop, the fact that Cory Monteith (Finn) tweeted "Just got to DC! You guys better bring it, cause King of Prussia brought it pretty hard..." was beyond exciting!  To anyone who attended already; share you thoughts and pictures.  To anyone who hasn't gone, but is; get ready- it's amazing.  To anyone who couldn't make it; that stinks cause it was awesome!

Grrrr...tiger nails!

New obsession alert! Watching nail polish tutorials on Youtube.
Have you seen these girls? Man, they're good! (Most of them, anyway.) They can do just about anything on nails. Here's my attempt at painting tiger stripes on Lizzie's nails. What do you think? Have you tried any nail art lately? Let us know! We'll post pix!

Benefit: Makeup for Cuties

One of my all-time favorite cosmetic brands is Benefit. Not just because their products are superb (they are), but also because they're just so darn funny! They use these super-glam old school mannequins, and their product names are hilarious!

How about "Get Bent" for a mascara?
Or "The Realness of Concealness" for this awesome correcting kit which has 5 of their top products.
One of my all-time faves is "Dr. Feelgood", which is a mattifying facial balm. It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth, with no greasy shine-through. Perfect for those sultry summer days (amd nights.)
Check out my aStore for more Benefit fun!

Poor Urijah!

Okay, I know there's nothing cute about fighting...but Urijah Faber, "The California Kid," must be the cutest MMA fighter out there. He lost his WEC fight last night to Mike Brown by decision after 5 rounds. Early in the first round, he injured his right hand; then later, his left. He fought valiantly to the end, but you really need both hands to fight Brown! Both fighters were super classy after the fight, each complimenting the other...none of that boneheaded, "Grrr...I am the greatest!" garbage. Hey, Urijah...I have an idea: why don't you just save that pretty face and get into acting or something?

Bento!

Bento is a Japanese trend which is really catching on just about everywhere there are moms and dads (or singles) trying to save a few bucks at lunch time. According to Biggie, whose awesome site http://lunchinabox.net/ tells you everything you need to know about bento, “a bento lunch is a compact, balanced, visually appealing meal packed in a box.”

A traditional Japanese bento usually contains fish, meat or rice; pickled veggies on the side. In Japan, they are available just about everywhere: train stations, convenience stores, department stores and Bento shops.

Japanese 7-11 Bento offerings

In fact, Japanese homemakers have raised Bento-making to an art, called kyaraben, by preparing elaborate lunch feasts, complete with food made to look like cute characters or animals.

Yes, little kids in Japan really eat this at lunch!

For the rest of us, it’s a fun way to save money, eat healthfully and be a little more Earth-friendly (no more plastic baggies).

There’s plenty of good bento info on the web; from recipes to videos http://parenting.ivillage.com/slideshow/parenting/the_rules_of_bento/.

Start with Biggie’s site (see above) or simply Google “bento”.

We are actually in love with the boxes themselves. There’s something so cute about these compact little containers, with a place for everything and everything in its place. There are online bento stores and there are plenty of them on eBay. Of course, we’d love it if you’d check out the picks on our store (to the right); click on “Cute EVERYTHING!”

JT Wins Survivor Tocantins!

24 year old Alabama cutie John “JT” Thomas, Jr. won, in a unanimous decision (only the 2nd time in the show’s history), Survivor Tocantins’ million dollar prize. He also won Sprint’s fan fave, bringing in an additional 100,000.00. Don’t let that incredible Southern boy accent fool you, JT is a smart cookie. He’s the first person in his family to graduate college (with a bachelor’s degree in business) and he owns and operates a registered Angus cattle ranch.

JT was pretty unbeatable, winning his last three immunity challenges. One of the greatest moments this season was when, during a particularly fierce challenge, JT lost part of a tooth. He kept playing like nothing happened, scoring a point and then another. When the challenge was over, host Jeff Probst tried to give JT his tooth back, but JT just shook it off. At last night’s finale, Jeff pulled something out of his pocket and unwrapped the tooth and asked JT if he wanted his tooth back. JT suggested that maybe his mom wanted it. (Hint to Mom: Sell that baby on ebay!)

JT was this season’s genuine nice guy. Of course, he did the requisite Survivor scheming, but he was always kind and honest, and he loves his momma. We like to believe that he and his final 2 buddy Stephen will really be good friends when it’s all said and done, like they said.

Even scruffy and muddy, JT was cute as could be. But when he was all cleaned up for the finale? Wooooo! That boy was ADORABLE!

Baby Ducks!

This morning, when we arrived at school/work, we were greeted by a litter/gaggle/flock(?) of 12 baby ducklings and their momma right outside our window. They were so cute, so fuzzy, it was all we could do not to pick them up and squeeze the living daylights out of them!

It got us thinking...no wonder ducks are popping up everywhere - they're so freakin' cute!

You can get rubber ducky earbuds at Fredflare.com for $15

Rubber ducky PJs at Target (24.99).

Be sure to pick up the ever-classic children's book "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey. First published in 1942, this happy book never goes out of style!

Or have a ducky party and use these sweet paper plates...

to serve your sweet ducky cupcakes!

Baby ducks are everywhere...

(seductionextreme.com about 44.00)

...you just have to know where to look! :)

Rainboots!

Is there anything cuter than bright, shiny rainboots?  Well, okay...lots of things are, but still.  Rainboots are adorable.  And right now you can choose from hundreds of pictures and patterns.

And while I don't advocate wearing rain boots to your wedding, you can wear them pretty much everywhere else.
