Make Your Own Dress Form

After about a week of sewing myself clothes, I realized I needed a dress form if I ever wanted it to work out.  One of the perks of sewing my own clothes is that I don't have to spend the money on overpriced items.  But even with all the money saved, I could not afford a dress form, especially an adjustable one that would fit my shape.  So instead, I decided to... make... my... own.  I could not have done this without the amazing tutorial from Threads.  Check it out here!

$5 dress... homemade!

So excited to share this dress that I made!  I got the materials at Jomar so the total comes in at way under $5, plus I've got tons of fabric left over!  It's basically a light gray circle skirt with a darker gray, somewhat sheer circle skirt on top of that.  The top is a heathered peach tank (I used my favorite tank top as a template and traced it onto the fabric).  The seam where the tank and skirt meet is not very pretty, so I made a quick belt out of the under skirt fabric to conceal it! In total, it probably only took 2-3 hours and I'm super pleased with how the dress turned out!
