Alight Plus Size Fashions Giveaway

Alight.com is quickly becoming THE place for plus size fashions.  I stumbled upon alight a few years ago when I needed a dress for my daughter’s graduation, and I didn’t want a frumpy, matronly plus-size frock.  Turns out, I love the dress I bought and I wear it whenever I can!  Their selection is amazing – from dresses to club clothes to jackets to cardigans – you will find it all at alight.com.
According to their site, “alight's selection of plus size clothing and apparel for women and teens is one of the largest on the internet. We carry over 1000 unique items from over 75 brands. Our buyers shop the globe for the most interesting and fashion right clothing.”
From size 12 – 34, there’s something for everyone at alight.  Check out their dressy dress selection.

As their site says, “Find the perfect plus size prom dress for prom 2011 here at alight. We have all the latest in formal prom gowns from the hottest designers. Whether you are looking for satin prom dresses, short prom dresses, long prom dresses, or strapless prom dresses, we have what you are looking for. We carry dresses in every color including black prom dresses, red prom dresses, green prom dresses, purple prom dresses, white prom dresses, orange prom dresses, yellow prom dresses, and gold prom dresses. For people on a budget we carry cheap prom dresses. Many of our prom dresses were featured in prom fashion magazines.”

They sent us a cute size 12 dress in a bright floral print with a wide satiny orange belt, which was perfect for accenting Liz’s little waist.  As she always does, she made the look her own by adding funky, slouchy little boots.

Shabby Apple, cute stuff with a conscience!

I didn't know anything about Shabby Apple until I was looking for advertisers to put on the blog.  Their cool logo caught my eye, so I dug further.  First, this:  "Every woman deserves to feel beautiful in a dress...but not all of us look like runway models"  Okay, Shabby, tell me more: "Shabby apple celebrates the short legs, curvy hips, straight waists and flat chests in all of us."  Wow!  You're talking my language!  Then, there's a 3 question quiz to determine your body type and then they offer clothes designed to fit YOUR body, lumps and all!

Shabby Apple is committed to Fair Trade and charity.  They want to help us find the right dress, sure, but they also want to end poverty and empower women all over the world.  They make sure that their clothing is made by companies who operate under the strictest Fair Trade guidelines by:
1. Making sure their employees are at least 18 years old
2. Paying their workers above minimum wage
3. Providing health care benefits to all employees
4. Allowing their employees to work up to 45 hours a week, no more
5. Providing scholarship to their employees' children so they may go to private school

And with products like this adorable headband...I mean, what are you waiting for?  Click the ad on the right and see for yourself.
